Mi último cumpleaños /My last birthday

Yesterday was my 38th birthday and it was a great day full of love from my family and friends at work and even my Facebook friends who made my day a little bit more special with all their congratulations.

A few days ago I told my family and close friends that this would be my last birthday and that I was expecting a great one… I guess I should have known they wouldn’t really get the joke, but yes, it had a reason me saying this and I did have to explain myself after all.

It has been my last birthday as only me, since in a little while it won’t be just me anymore and there will be a little, but very important piece of my husband, inside of me too. Literally hahaha

Anyway next 22nd of January I have my appointment with my nurse and on the 20th of February with my doctor but it seems this last one won’t be happening after all.

During our last visit the doctor advised us to take some holidays before the transplant since afterwards and due to all the weekly controls in the hospital it would be a bit difficult during the first year. So we went ahead and booked a week during February half term in Algarve for the four of us… only for me to find out afterwards that my doctor appointment was exactly that week!

Now I have a doubt, because I have been told when trying to change my appointment that she is fully booked till the 23th of February and that after that date she will be gone till mid April.

So… who will be taking care of me while she is gone? How are we going to go ahead with the transplant if according to her it is going to happened between March en April?

I got an email from my nurse yesterday telling me that we will talk about it all on my visit on the 22nd of January…

And yes, I am curious…
